Take Profit Trader Rules — Why It's 5 Days, Not 3
Take Profit Trader's evaluation takes a minimum of five trading days. The consistency maths alone would allow three, but the firm layers a five-day minimum on top and that binds first. You can reach the profit target sooner — the account will not convert until day five.
If a comparison site told you three days, it modelled the consistency rule wrong. That is the most common error made about this firm.
By the end of this you will know why TPT is simultaneously one of the most forgiving evaluations to survive and one of the slowest to finish.

Take Profit Trader rules: the strict-versus-inclusive trap
TPT's consistency rule requires your best day to be strictly under 50% of total profit — not at or below it.
That single character, `<` instead of `≤`, is worth an entire trading day.
Topstep's rule is inclusive. Two days of exactly $1,500 against a $3,000 target satisfy it, which is why Topstep passes in two. Run the same arithmetic at TPT and a day landing on exactly half your total profit fails the check. You need a third day to bring the ratio under the line.
We model it strictly because TPT's own worked example does. Most aggregators assume inclusive because every other firm is, and report three days.
The rule that actually decides your pace
Even the corrected consistency maths is not the binding constraint. TPT requires five minimum trading days, and that number overrides everything.
| Constraint | Days it demands |
|---|---|
| Profit target alone | 1 |
| Consistency, if inclusive | 3 |
| Consistency, strictly below 50% | 4 |
| Minimum trading days | 5 |
The highest number wins. Five.
What you get in exchange
TPT removed daily loss limits firm-wide. Not reduced, not softened — removed. Only the trailing max loss can end your evaluation.
| Account | Profit target | Max loss limit | Daily loss limit | Max contracts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | $1,500 | $1,500 | None | 3 |
| 50K | $3,000 | $2,000 | None | 6 |
| 75K | $4,500 | $2,500 | None | 9 |
| 100K | $6,000 | $3,000 | None | 12 |
| 150K | $9,000 | $4,500 | None | 15 |
Note the 75K. Very few futures firms offer that size, and it is a genuinely useful step between 50K and 100K.
For a trader whose strategy needs room to recover inside a session, no daily loss limit is worth more than a fast pass. Most evaluations do not die on the drawdown — they die on a daily limit hit at 10am on a day that would have finished green.
Worked example — 50K
Target $3,000, drawdown $2,000, five-day minimum, best day strictly under 50% of total.
The efficient shape is $1,000 + $1,000 + $1,000, then two tiny days. Three equal days puts your best at 33% of the total, comfortably under the strict cap. The target is met on day three; days four and five exist only to satisfy the count.
On those last two days, place one micro contract, open and close it, and stop. TPT does not impose a minimum profit for a day to count, so a token trade ticks the box. But the drawdown is still live and the consistency rule is still measuring — a careless trade after you have already passed is the most avoidable way to lose an account.

- Traders who have failed evaluations on daily loss limits rather than on the overall drawdown
- Anyone who wants breathing room inside a session and is not racing
- Traders wanting a 75K account, which few firms offer
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone optimising for speed — four firms in this comparison pass in a single day
- Traders who front-load one enormous day, which the strict rule punishes hardest
- Anyone who needs an enforced daily stop for their own discipline
Frequently asked
How many days does Take Profit Trader take to pass?
Five. That is the firm's minimum trading day requirement and it binds before the consistency maths does. You can reach the profit target sooner, but the account will not convert until day five.
Is the Take Profit Trader consistency rule 50%?
It is strictly below 50% of total profit, not at or below it. A best day landing exactly on half your total profit does not satisfy the check. This is why our figure is five days where many comparison sites say three.
Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit?
No. TPT removed daily loss limits across the entire firm. Only the trailing maximum loss limit can end your evaluation, which makes this one of the most forgiving rule sets to survive even though it is one of the slowest to complete.
